Running Around with Shake n Go Thomas !

I’m not quite sure what it is about Thomas the Tank Engine that makes him so endearing to children, but my 19 month old certainly loves him. The happiness on her face when she sees any picture of “choo choo!!” makes him a hit in our home. So when I saw the Shake n Go Thomas, I was sure she’d love it.

This train is a little larger than the usual ones at 7.5″ x 6″ x 3″, and is easy to use- you simply pick it up, shake it until you hear the chugging sound, put it down, and it rolls a few feet forward and stops. While doing so, Thomas shouts things like “Let’s go!” and makes typical train sounds. There’s no volume control, just an on and off button, and the three AA batteries are included.

You know that feeling when you think your child is going to absolutely love a toy and then they don’t? Yep, that’s how I felt. While my daughter was excited to see Thomas arrive, she was a little frightened at how he was moving without her pushing it. She kept trying to push it but nope, he wouldn’t go. It was a case of me going “Look honey! Thomas!” and showing her how to get him to move, him moving, her staring and then going to play with her other toys. Not quite what I had pictured in my head. That was Day One.

Enter Day Two and in typical toddler fashion, it was a whole different story. She figured out how to shake him and put him down without touching him so he could roll away himself. Off Thomas went and suddenly she loved him! He works great on our wooden flooring and she enjoys shaking him and running around after him. Just keep in mind, if you forget to switch this toy off and touch it in the slightest, it will make some kind of train noise. But other than that, if you have a Thomas the Tank Engine fan, they will no doubt love this gift!
