I’d be nervous about your kid turning on the hot water there. I have the same handle in my shower and I get nervous all the time.
Thanks for the great tip. I have resorted to holding my daughter down or just letting her “brush” her teeth as best as she can. It is a CONSTANT battle. Unfortunately we have pedestal sinks in both of our bathrooms, so we might have to try this in the kitchen. Whatever works! Thanks again!
I totally use the second toothbrush every night! It is a great distraction technique.
Just a tip… turn the temperature on your water heater down. That way you don’t have to worry about whether or not they turn on the hot water because it will not get hot enough to burn them anyway.
Thanks, Tiffany! You beat me to my response about the hot water. We brush teeth in our “kid’s bathroom” where the water doesn’t get that hot. Plus, I constantly monitor the water temperature.
Great tips! I want to try these with my toddler… we often have a battle during tooth-brushing time. I recently read about a mom who hands her child a toothbrush while they are buckled in their high chair after meals. The kid gets to brush their own teeth during an in-between brushing time. They won’t do the best job, but hey, it’s better than nothing and it gives them some independence. I’ve also found some good info on this Mom’s Guide if you want to check it out.
Thanks again for the helpful insight!
Thanks for sharing. I remember trying to brush my kids teeth and how difficult it was for me.
