Britax has added to their line of strollers with their newest addition, The B-Nimble. The B-Nimble is their new lightweight, umbrella stroller that has some great features for mom and baby and some improvements over their recent Blink stroller.
The seat is large and roomy, making for a comfortable ride for even an older child. The seat is 14” wide and with a seatback to canopy measurement of 28”, our taller 3 1/2 year old tester had plenty of room in the seat without hitting his head on the canopy. And with a high weight capacity of 55 lbs, even our older toddlers and children can hop in for a ride. It has an excellent 5-point (unpadded), adjustable harness that adjusts to fit snugly on a small child yet big enough with room to grow for a larger child. The seat has a very deep recline that is suitable from birth up. The seat can be set in many recline positions with the strap system. Of course, we’d like a one handed bar recline but the strap system is not too bad to do. We love the adjustable leg rest with two positions that keeps our little riders comfortable whether they prefer it up or down.
The B-Nimble has a large canopy for an umbrella stroller (not the biggest on the market!) complete with a pop out sun visor and a peek a boo window to keep an eye on your little rider. The peek-a-boo window features Velcro to keep it closed but since Velcro can be loud and disturb a sleeping baby, we would like to see some type of a magnetic or quieter closure. We love that the two ergonomic handles are taller than most umbrella strollers giving both taller and shorter moms and dads a comfortable push without fear of kicking the rear wheels and eliminating the dreaded stroller hunch. The handles are about 41” from ground to where your hands go.
There is a small basket underneath that can hold a small diaper bag, purse or other baby essentials. Just know you will not be able to fit a large diaper bag in this basket. And just like many strollers with a seat that reclines almost flat, the basket is very hard to access in this seat position. You can access the basket a bit from the side to retrieve small items if the seat is fully reclined. Be careful hanging your diaper bag or other bags on the handles of the B-Nimble though. It is a lightweight stroller and if you load up the handles and remove your child from the seat, the stroller will flip backwards. This is typical of many lightweight umbrella strollers, but we did want to make you aware of it. The B-Nimble also has a storage pouch on the back of the canopy for parent or baby essentials.
The B-Nimble sports four 6” inch wheels and an all wheel suspension system giving baby a smooth ride. The front wheels are swivel wheels that have the ability to lock straight for navigating a bit bumpier terrain. This umbrella stroller is by no means an all-terrain stroller but we were able to navigate it over grass, playground mulch and cobblestone streets with a bit of effort. We love that there is a one touch linked rear brake system. One step locks both rear wheels at the same time! The maneuverability is good on the B-Nimble allowing us to easily navigate this stroller even with one hand on pavement and smooth surfaces.
We love the portable carry strap on the B-Nimble! This strap makes it great for travel since you can carry it on your back leaving you hands free. Weighing in at 14 lbs, the B-Nimble is lightweight and easy to throw in and out of your trunk. Even though it is lightweight, you will be getting a sturdy, well-made stroller.
Britax was listening to moms when they designed the fold of the stroller. Wanting to prevent ruined pedicures and scuffed shoes, Britax gave us a fold that is easy to do without the top of our foot. All you have to do is: 1) lift up on the carry strap to unlock part of the frame 2) step on the lever on the right side to unlock the rest of the frame 3) fold the handlebars forward to collapse the stroller into an umbrella fold. There is a great automatic lock on the side of the stroller to keep it locked when transporting. Love this!
Since the B-Nimble is an umbrella stroller, it is lacking the cup holder and tray for baby. They did thoughtfully include a cup holder for the parent on the back of the stroller that you could also use to store baby’s bottle.
While most umbrella strollers don’t accommodate an infant car seat, the B-Nimble is different! It has the ability to become a travel system with the integrated Click n Go infant car seat adapters for the Britax Chaperone infant car seat. Using the Click n Go adapters are so quick and easy! And when they aren’t in use, they remain on the stroller but fold down to the sides. If you decide not to pair it with a Britax Chaperone, it also can accommodate other major car seat brands with the included infant car seat adapter strap. We found that the lightweight aluminum frame is still sturdy enough to safely accommodate a car seat.
The B-Nimble retails for $199 which is very competitive for a full-featured umbrella stroller with the added feature of the travel system capability. With the very large seat, deep recline, infant car seat compatibility, and sturdy frame, we think you should check out the Britax B-Nimble when lightweight, umbrella stroller shopping!
