The Joovy Nook high chair has a modern look with clean, sleek lines and yet is still practical for your kitchen. This high chair may not be stocked with every high chair feature under the sun, but it has great style and one of the most compact folds on the market. If you have a small kitchen, are a minimalist parent, or if you are just looking for a great looking, compact folding highchair for your urban lifestyle, the Nook is definitely a high chair to consider!
First thing we noticed was how incredibly easy this high chair was to set up. There is absolutely no assembly required! You don’t even have to attach the seat pad. Yep, even that is done for you. Take it out of the box. Unfold it. And you are ready to go! That’s it! No tools. Couldn’t be easier!
After it was set up in no time flat, what we noticed next was the large seat covered in beautiful, padded black leatherette. The Nook is also available in white leatherette and orange and green fabric. No cartoon characters or crazy patterns here! And what’s better is that the seat fabric is wipeable, removable and you can even throw it in the washer AND dryer! (The leatherette is can only be surface cleaned! Sorry, no washer and dryer for that option!) That is seriously easy clean up! There are two creases in the fabric at the base of the seat that tend to hide food but you can wipe it out quickly and easily.
The seat is roomy and will accommodate even your bigger toddlers. It features an adjustable, secure 5-point harness for safety and a footrest for the comfort of your child. The footrest is not adjustable and will only be used with your older toddlers. Our 1 year old tester’s feet didn’t even come close to the footrest.
We love the tray on the Nook. It is a rather large tray that swings away easily with one hand on one side to make getting your child in and out a breeze. No more worrying about where to set the tray because it stays attached! While the tray is swung open, you can also easily remove the tray completely by lifting a lever and pulling up on the other side of the tray. The tray doesn’t adjust closer or farther from your child though. And we did find that the tray unfortunately didn’t get as close to our little eater as we’d like. Even with our 2 year old tester, there was still a large space between the tray and the child for the food to fall onto his lap. The tray features a removable, dishwasher safe insert that…wait for it….actually fits in the dishwasher!! Some high chairs haven’t figured that part out yet.
Now, the Nook isn’t stocked with a million features but has lots of style and is perfect for the lifestyle-type of high chair that it was designed to be. It is one of those chairs that you see what you get. It doesn’t have some of the extra bells and whistles, such as toys, a reclining seat, and adjustable height but it’s definitely worth it if you need a compact, lightweight highchair that has a super compact and easy fold!
The main attraction of the Nook (besides the fabulous, modern look) is the compact fold. If you need a high chair that you can easily be stored away or can travel with you, then the Nook is it!! The fold is nothing short of fabulous! It’s simple yet very effective in folding this chair down flat. Yes, you heard us right, the chair folds down FLAT! 9 1/2 inches flat when folded to be exact! Plus, weighing it at a very light 15 lbs, the Nook is easy to fold up and store away or travel with no problem! This high chair is so easy to fold that you can put it away in between each meal if you would like! You can take this lightweight chair to grandma’s house or store it away in the tightest spaces. (We store it in the pantry!) Be careful taking it to grandma’s house because she just might try to keep the Nook since it takes up so little room when the kids aren’t visiting.
The Joovy Nook High Chair is perfect for today’s urban lifestyle! If you are an urban parent, or are looking for a chic, yet compact high chair with an unbelievable fold, then the Joovy Nook is a must see!
