Britax Introduces B-Ready Stroller This Week

This week Britax is introducing a brand new stroller line designed for parent and child.

The B-READY is a versatile and stylish modular luxury stroller equipped to meet the growing family’s needs.

The B-READY reminds us of a combination of the Uppa Baby VISTA, Baby Jogger City Select and Phil & Teds Sport with Doubles Kit!  The B-READY is a single stroller that can transform to a tandem double!  The stroller even has the ability to accomodate two infant car seats at once to turn it into a double travel system.  The stroller will have 14 different seating configurations and is designed to be folded with one or two seats attached.

The main seat is reversible with a few recline positions and a secure 5-point harness.  The second seat attaches with the child facing forward to the frame behind the main seat.  It looks like the second seat will go into the basket by the rear wheels.  We see that there are wheel guards on the rear wheels but we haven’t tested this stroller at all yet to see how close the second child is to the wheels or the stability with two children aboard.

Overall, without testing it yet, it looks pretty darn cool!  Stay tuned for more information!   Here are two short commercials from Britax that give you a sneek peek:

I am curious to know your thoughts/comments on this stroller. Do you have plans to test it out anytime in the near future?
    Thanks!

    Shannon,
Yes, I will be testing and reviewing the Britax B-Ready in the next couple of weeks! I just had the privilege of seeing the B-Ready up close and personal! It’s actually cooler than I thought!!! The second seat reclines, it takes two car seats at once AND you can fold the stroller with both seats attached! It’s really neat! Stay tuned for my full video review!

    Hi Hollie,

I just saw your video review of the Britax B-Ready. Great job and thank you. Here is my question for you: I’ve tested the UppaBaby Vista in doubles mode and my toddler did not like the rumbleseat. She felt it was too close to the back of the main seat and it actually made her a little distressed. How does the Britax 2nd seat compare with the rumbleseat in terms of closeness to the main seat?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my question!

I have a tall, 40lb 3 year old and a new born, i’m debating between the UppaBaby Vista and Britax B ready, I’ve wtached both your reviews and it’s actually made me love both more. Which one would you choose for 2 kids with big weight and size differences?

  5. admin says:

    Hi Tracy,
I would choose the Britax B-Ready. I love that the second seat reclines flat in case you want to use it with your newborn and that it stays attached when you fold the stroller. Well, I’d choose that one UNLESS you are super tall! If you are tall, you may kick or hit the rear seat with your leg with the B-Ready. If you are tall, go with the Uppa. If you are average height, go with the B-ready. Hope this helps! Best, Hollie

Some differences with Uppababy Vs. Britax B-Ready:

WHEELS – Vista wins. Vista had better wheels. Vista had tread and were more grippery tire like feel. B-Ready had smooth plastic feel to them. I can see that they would get all scratched up easily. B-Ready also had fenders on them which seem to add to bulk. Comparing closely it almost appear one could put Vista’s wheels to B-Ready. It’s that similar!

HANDLE – B-Ready wins. Handle on B-Ready was nicer than Vista. It pivoted instead of telescoping (which was what the Vista does). The center was had a grip that was molded for one-handed steering. The arms and wrist seem more comfortable (rested more parallel like on a keyboard). My wife at 5’2 found the Vista handle too high and wished it could adjust lower.

FOLDING – Vista wins (barely). Comparing the two, the wife like the Vista (it did take several attempts for wife to get the feel for it, as did I ! Once figured out it was ok).B-Ready required two hands as well but you sort of have to use your stomach so that you could pull the levers toward you and have it collapse. We also found that you had to straighten out the B-Ready’s handle so that when you fold it, it would stand properly stand up and you could lock the folding clasp. DEFINITELY TRY FOLDING IT YOURSELF IN THE STORE! (just to add an another stroller, the Baby Jogger City Select has really easy folding capability!). Both stands up when folded although you have to consciously stand it up. The sales person always seems to fold it and let it flop to the ground. I doubt one would do that outside.

Note on second seat folding – The folding of the B-Ready allows the second seat to be on but it was very bulky (and heavy at a total of 35 lbs) and the canopy of the second seat would get dirty. It’s better to just remove the seat.

MAIN SEAT – Vista wins. Vista has 0 degree seat position and B-Ready did not. Vista 2010 added this to address a common complaint. B-Ready is slightly on the decline. So while the B-Ready has a handle that is more ergonomically correct for mom’s wrist, it seems the seat upright capability is better for the kid. (previous Vista 2009 owners found the kid pulling themselves forward to get upright).

SECOND SEAT (REAR) – B-Ready wins . Recline of 2nd child add on – B ready was clearly better since it can recline to horizontal sleeping position. Vista had one position. It was not upright but slightly tilted back. More for a child chilling out and may nit be the best if kid is sleeping. The Vista seat was also closer to the front seat and B- Ready has more room for child in rear. A taller person may hit the B-Ready seat with their stride but I’m 5’10 and its not a problem.

STORAGE – B-Ready wins (barely). B-Ready is accessible on all sides. Vista’s is on the rear only. With the rear seat, this is important. However, the Vista has a bar running across where the kid can sort of step their feet on. The B-Ready has their feet in the entire basket and the kids would probably kick at your diaper bag.

CONFIGURATIONS – B-Ready wins. B-Ready has 14 configurations vs. Vista’s 3 configurations. Most notably are: B-Ready has ability to use two infant carriers at the same time. You can also place infant carrier in the rear (Vista you cannot. You can only put it in the front). B-Ready can use the bassinet with the second seat. Vista cannot use bassinet with rear seat.

After all this, I am still having problems deciding. For me, it comes down to Vista’s 0 degree position but no full recline in rear seat Vs. B-Ready’s full recline rear seat but lack of 0 degree position.

Thanks mygunyeh for the comparison! I’m fairly set on the B-Ready but it’s god to know some of the cons.

Can anyone tell me how much the chastity of the B-Ready weighs? I can’t seem to find an answer for that. Thanks!

    Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to let you all (including Hollie) know that I am 5′ 11″ and don’t evn come close to kicking the second seat of the britax. My husband is 6′ 2″ and neither does he. I thought I would let you guys know in case you were worried about that!!! The B ready is THE best stroller invented to date. (In my personal opinion, of course:)

  9. Candace says:

I love the B Ready too….but was concerned about the smoothness of the ride with those plastic wheels….any comments? Thanks!!!

  10. ann says:

    Hollie,

I am trying to decide between the P&T explorer & the b-ready for my 2.5 yr old & newborn. do both of them handle well on uneven sidewalks? I live in a city with high curbs and am concerned about being able to go up high curbs when it’s in doubles mode. It’s great that they are stable and won’t tip back, but will they tip back when you need to go up a step?

  11. hollieschultz says:

Honestly, I like the tires/wheels better on the phil&teds explorer better than the B-Ready because they air-filled. p&ts air-filled tires are going to just handle the bumpier sidewalk a bit better. One main difference between the two (which makes the B-Ready better!) is that not only does the second seat recline flat but you can leave it attached when folding the B-Ready. The explorer second seat doesn’t recline and has to be removed. Regarding going up a curb: both stroller will of course tip back eventually if you lean them back far enough. You’ll just have to make sure that you are supporting the stroller enough when hopping up a curb. Hope this helps! – Hollie

  12. ann says:

Thanks Hollie! I have also heard of people using the P&T hammerhead second seat with the explorer b/c it reclines. Have you heard of this?

  13. Miucia says:

Hollie – I was just wondering if you would purchase the Britax B Ready over the Bob’s Revolution. I’m at a loss as to what to register for!

  14. hollieschultz says:

Miucia, do you plan to use the stroller for sport use (jogging, all-terrain) or no? Plus, are you looking for a stroller that converts from single to double or does that not matter? – Hollie

  15. Anastasia says:

    Hi Hollie,

Most of my friends have a BOB and I have to say, I love how easy to is to push the stroller fully loaded or over gravel trails or grass. But recently I have seen a B ready with its new tires in store (really nice!)…

I am not a jogger but love to go on long daily walks, so am torn between the BOB’s awesome push and the B-ready’s ability to convert into different configurations., and “be ready” for when the second child comes along. I would need a stroller that can handle the gravel roads at the cottage, in addition to playground grass and bumpy sidewalks. Do the new tires on the B ready allow the stroller to push easily (with children and items in tow) in these ares similar to how the BOB can? An easy push/maneuverability is an important factor to me …. I find the push of a GRACO travelsystem absolutely awful (for example)… How does B Ready compare?

What would you recommend/what is more practical – I’ve narrowed it down to two strollers… But now need help! Thanks for the advice!

    Anastasia
