I have heard from a few parents that are concerned about the seat size of the Baby Jogger City Select. You can see our testers in the seats in our video review but I thought I would take some actual photos to give you a good idea of how big the seat is. I tested the seat with a 6 month old, 3 year old and a 5 year old. Just so you know, here are the testers’ stats:
6 months: 18 lbs & 27 inches
3 Years old: 34 lbs & 36 inches
5 Years old: 41 lbs & 42 1/2 inches
Note: Our 5 year old tester is way past the “stroller age” and never rides in a stroller anymore. She walks!
But she was very cooperative to help us show what a child near the weight capacity of 45 lbs looked like in the stroller seat!

Don’t forget our full review (with video) of the Baby Jogger City Select:
UPDATE: Here are some additional pictures with a Graco Snugride and the toddler seat!

Baby Gizmo Blogs, a
Graco adapter is a complete disappointment, almost a fraud, does not work. Basically is just a support and a belt. Basically like putting a rope around it. This guys really need to find another solution and replace this shitty support to all… does not work…. Get a scotch paper masking tape and would do the same.
Hey Hollie, I have a question-
Would you recommend this stroller for a place like Disney World? We have a Maclaren Quest and Baby Jogger Summit XC already and both have huge cons on going. This seems like a great middle of the road.
My only question (other than would you recommend it for Disney) is about how to carry it once it’s folded? I’ve heard from other parents that they’ve occasionally had to quickly fold up a stroller for one reason or another and carry it while at the parks. Can it be wheeled? Is it awkward to carry (like the Baby Jogger Summit XC is?)? I’m sure it’s not as easy to carry as the Maclaren Quest, but it has SO MUCH MORE storage space and seems to have more comfort/shade for baby.
Thoughts?
Tori, for everyday use at home, I love our City Select for my four year old son and baby twins, and use it far more than our umbrella strollers or BOB Duallie stroller. However, for travel, I have an Inglesina Trip (single) and a Maclaren Triumph (double).
For Disney World I would not recommend this stroller, because it’s expensive if damaged, hard to travel with on a plane (their Baby Jogger bag is not good), and hard to carry on the tram when folded (even as a double). When folded, the frame/ seats are either separated & flat or the whole thing is bulky if the seats are folded with it (about 28 lbs as a single, 33 as a double). Not something that’s easy to open and close quickly, in other words.
However, the City Select stores compactly but in parts, which makes it ideal for small cars – not a bad thing necessarily, just not as good for your travel needs.
Another huge issue is stroller theft -I use less expensive umbrella strollers at Disney as you need to leave them outside attractions. Although I’ve yet to hear of problems at Disney, Orlando Stroller Rentals offers insurance for their strollers (they have City Mini strollers, City Elite and Bob Duallies).
My recommendation is to go with a Citi Mini rental which has the huge canopy and folds very compactly, and is way more comfortable/ affordable than Disney rentals which must be returned every day to the park. You’ll be able to have it delivered at your hotel and have it the length of your stay, returning it at the hotel too. The big bonus of course is that you’ll have one less item to travel with & worry about.
PS – This is the company used by many Moms of Multiples when we travel to Disney and is highly recommended by them, and a useful resource for anyone in your situation. Have a great trip
You’re heaven sent. This review and peoples comments have sealed the deal for me. I have a 2 yr old and a 2 month old. My bjcs arrives in 3weeks from lullaboobaby. I’m excited!!!
to Chelsey- I have the BJCS (2010 model) and a 4 yr old and 2 yr old. My husband is 6’2″ and to my knowledge has never kicked the bar, and neither have I (i am 5’4″). We both LOVE the stroller. The only thing i wish it had was more padding (when the kids fall asleep i add a blanket or something on the side to give their head padding). I also wish the foot wells were longer, but it works. The stroller steers so well (i sold my phil & teds dash to get this one), and as a double or single its awesome. Both can be fully reclined when facing the parent, and i love that when both are facing forward the stadium seating allows both children to see what is going on. I seriously looked at the UPPABaby with rumble seat, but what really sold me on the BJCS was the fact that the rumble seat could not face forward or recline. We took this stroller to disneyland (i also use this stroller almost daily for walks/shopping), and after taking it on a long trip it only made me love it more!! fully loaded (and I mean FULLY LOADED- everybody liked to pile their jackets/bags in my stroller along with my 2 kids and their gear) it still pushed very well, and i LOVED that when it was getting late both could fully recline with HUGE hoods to help them sleep until we went back to the hotel. i always get compliments on the stroller (i have it in Diamond color) and i am expecting my 3rd baby in 7 weeks. We plan on using the car seat adapter and i think i am going to get the bassinet because we have loved this stroller so much.
How did you get the footwell to fold up on a 90 degree angle? Mine sits out at 45 and doesn’t fit in my car!
I’m in between the city select and b-ready. I like the configurations of the city select but i’ve heard the seats are shorter in terms of leg room. My kids are 2 years apart, one being a new born. I want to choose the ideal stroller that will allow my eldest to ride the longest being most comfortable and have ample leg room.
Which one should I choose? Thanks
Will the City Select fold up with the car seat adopter and and one toddler seat still attached, or do you have to remove the adapter?
I’ve read that maxicosi mico fit the best with bjcs, just wonder how about cabriofix? Is it a great, acceptable, or a no fit?
I have this stroller, I just got it. I find it very difficult to maneuver with my 27 lb two year old in the front seat and my newborn in a graco up top. Is there something wrong with the stroller? Or is it just difficult with the center of gravity being off perhaps? Just wondering if it is my stroller that has issues.
Sara, a lot of people have had this issue. The only way to solve it what I have read is put baby up front facing you and toddler facing outwards nearest to you.
I haven’t got this stroller yet. I was inbetween city select, b ready or the upper baby.
I drew the upper baby out completely when I saw that the front seat is always facing inwards, hate that!!
The b ready, the bottom seat is just too far back and on the floor, I know my toddler wont like being down there.
So that leave the city select, and I keep going back to this stroller. I would want to get the 2011 model as the seats a just a tiny little bit bigger. And my daughter isnt very big but I want her to be comfortable.
I’m so stuck on what stroller to get! Now I’m looking at side by side strollers, but I like the fact that the city select can be used as a single for those days when my daughter wont wanna be in the stroller and wants to walk. The city select looks nice and light to push rather than a bulky side by side stroller.
Someone tell me what stroller to get!!!! HELP! lol
Do the 2011 and 2012 extra seats still fit in the 2010 city select frame? I want to buy the 2010 model but want to be able to buy a second seat in the future for a second child.
